Jewelry Investment Plaster | Lost Wax Casting Powder
In stock - Ships in 1-3 business days
Lost-wax casting is one of metalworking’s oldest acts of transformation. For thousands of years, makers have shaped temporary forms in wax, surrounded them with heat-resistant material, burned the wax away, and poured molten metal into the space left behind. The tools have changed. The craft is still the same.
Modern jewelry investment powder is the refined version of that ancient mold material. Gypsum-bonded investment combines a plaster-based binder with refractory mineral components engineered to withstand burnout temperatures while expanding in a controlled way around fine detail. Mixed with water, it becomes a smooth slurry that flows around carved wax or castable patterns, hardens into a rigid flask, and preserves the negative space that becomes the final metal object.
This investment powder is intended for lost-wax jewelry casting molds, including rings, pendants, settings, charms, and other small metalwork. Accurate water ratios, thorough mixing, vacuuming, curing, and a controlled burnout schedule all contribute to clean detail and consistent surface quality.
Offered in smaller bench-scale quantities for makers who do not need a full commercial bag.
