Synthetic Opal Glass Rough: 7 oz - Practice Lab Stones for Faceting & Cabbing
In stock: 1-3 business days
Learning how to cut stones means working with material that teaches rather than rewards. Whether you are practicing cabbing or faceting, consistent and forgiving stock matters more than yield. This lab-made opal glass is offered as a reliable lapidary practice material for those developing shaping, grinding, and polishing skills before moving on to natural stone.
This material is a synthetic glass, not a natural opal. The pieces are supplied as irregular rough chunks with natural glass fracture surfaces. It responds predictably on wheels and laps, making it well suited for dop practice, preforming, and testing polishing sequences. The blue-green hue of the body with a soft, yellow internal glow keeps pressure marks and polish progression visible throughout the cutting process. Under heat and pressure, it behaves like glass and should be treated accordingly.
